Installation Guide
EXO Sensor Installation
Power should be o during all steps
1) Prepare the stem by smoothing the thin bark, or removing thick
bark with sandpaper if necessary. Small stems may be removed and
sanded smooth. Try to minimize the damage to the living tissues of
the plant.
2) Wash with soapy water.
3) Measure the stem diameter in mm. You can use
an average diameter if the stem is not perfectly
round.
4) Spray a thin layer of canola oil around the
stem.
5) Add a small amount of G4 grease and coat the
insides of the sensor. Wipe
o the excess grease with
a soft cloth. Put a thin layer of grease on the
heater strip that extends outside the sensor as
well.
6) Install the sensor around the stem. Tuck in
and overlap the heater strip. The cork substrate
does not go all the way around the stem. There
should be a short section of heater still visible
in the gap of the sensor.
Be careful with the heater,
to make sure it does not get kinked or doubled
up in any way.
7) Wrap the stretchable Velcro strap around the
sensor from top to bottom, overlapping 3-5 mm.
For larger EXO sensors, you may use two straps
to wrap from the center to the top and from the
center to the bottom.
