Chapter 4 Installation 4.
4.2 HDD Installation First, please remove the HDD holder from the DVR machine. (Pic1)。 (Pic1) Lock HDD holder symmetirically in the two sides of HDD. (Pic2, Pic3) (Pic2) (Pic3) Insert the SATA cable and power cable into SATA HDD.
Lock the HDDs onto DVR machine. (Pic5)。 (Pic5) Insert the SATA cables into the sockets on the main board (Pic6). Make sure the HDD1 cable insert into HDD1 socket. Now, the installation was finished (Pic7).
4.3 Main Devices Installation 4.3.1 Camera CAMERA 1~16 * Connect a female BNC connector of each camera to a male BNC connector, “CAMERA IN” port. 4.3.2 Audio LINE AUDIO Audio Input - AUDIO IN: Connect the RCA Line Jack of the relevant equipment (for example, a camera with a built-in microphone) to the AUDIO IN port. Audio Output - AUDIO OUT: Connect the RCA Line output to a monitor with a built-in speaker.
4.3.3 Monitor VGA MONITOR SPOT MONITOR MAIN MONITOR DVR supports two types of monitor output, one is Composite output (BNC connector); the other one is VGA output (DSUB-15). But you can just select one monitor output type at a time. * Composite Output: (1) Power off (2) Press the MENU button and CH3 button at the same time (3) Power on (4) When you hear a beep sound, it means images already output to the Composite port. Now you can release the buttons.
4.4 Sensor Input 16CH: SENSOR 1~SENSOR 16 8CH: SENSOR 1~SENSOR 8 4CH: SENSOR 1~SENSOR 4 4.4.1 Sensor Input Menu Setup Enter EVENT -> SENSOR INPUT menu to select the correct sensor input type which connected with DVR. Select the right sensor type according to the type of installed sensor with the unit. - NORMAL OPEN: The sensor is open in normal times. - NORMAL CLOSE: The sensor is close in normal times.
4.5 RS-485 RS485 is use for connect to external device, such as keyboard or PTZ camera. 4.5.1 RS-485 Menu Setup Enter LINK -> RS485 menu to set the parameters of RS-485 device which connected with DVR (The parameters must the same with the device). 4.5.2 PTZ Camera Installation Connect the PTZ camera to DVR RS-485 interface (D+ to D+; D- to D-), and then connect the camera output to the desired channel.
4.5.3 PTZ Camera Operation 1. Select the desired PTZ camera channel. 2. Press the PTZ button to enter the PTZ mode. 3. Use the direction buttons to change camera position. 4. Press Z(+) and Z(-) buttons to control the camera zoom in and zoom out. 5. Press the PTZ button again to exit the PTZ mode. 4.5.4 PTZ Camera Preset Mode 1. Select the desired PTZ camera channel. 2. Press the PTZ button to enter the PTZ mode. 3. Press the PRESET button to enter the “PTZ(PRESET)SET” mode. 4.
Preset point is a convenient usage of PTZ camera. It is a preset user-defined camera position; user can move the camera position very quickly when needed. Total programmable capacity of 16 preset locations. 4.6 Relay Output The relay device should be set to NO (Normal Open) and it will change to NC (Normal Close) when an event has been triggered. Enter EVENT -> RELAY OUTPUT menu to select the Relay type which connected with DVR.
Chapter 5 Basic Operation and Menu Setup 5.1 Basic Operation 5.1.1 Power ON/OFF After the connection of power adaptor and other devices (HDDS) with this DVR, turn the power on. a. The video signal system (NTSC or PAL) is automatically detected. b. Power Failure Recovery This DVR automatically reverts back to programmed record parameters upon power restoration. If there is no video signal, the video signal system is set to NTSC. Do not input the PAL type video signal or it may cause the DVR’s malfunction.
c. Freeze FREEZE Press the FREEZE button in the LIVE mode, the screen will be freezed. Press the FREEZE button again to release the FREEZE mode. - FREEZE function is not available, when auto mode is selected. d. LIVE/Playback mode switching Press the LV/PB (■) button in the Playback mode, you can switch to the LIVE monitoring mode. 5.1.3 System Status ① Press the “STATUS” button, the SYSTEM STATUS menu will appear.
5.1.4 Audio Control Audio ON/OFF: Press the FUNCTION button and then press the “AUDIO (0)” button to open/close the DVR audio function. You can hear audio of selected channel regardless of monitoring screen. 5.1.5 PIP Mode ① Select a single camera in live view, and then press the PIP button and the following screen will be displayed. (For example: CH1) CH2 CH1 ② Select the desired camera that will be displayed on the PIP screen (For example: CH2, but can not select the same camera with present (CH1)).
5.1.7 Menu Operation ① Press the MENU button to enter the main menu screen. ② Move the cursor to desired position using the , , , buttons, then press the button to enter each submenu. ③ Change the value using the F(-),F(+) buttons or truning the wheel scroll of mouse. ④ Select the item to exit the menu setup, you will see the following screen: Select save or not, then you can exit the menu setup.
ADD AUTO SINGLE: If selected OFF, every single channel will be skipped in the AUTO SEQUENCE mode. The default is “OFF”. VIDEO LOSS SKIP: If selected ON, every VIDEO LOSS channel will be skipped in the AUTO SEQUENCE mode. The default is “ON”. Auto Sequence Display - Press the SEQ button, each screen display will be automatically switching according to the AUTO SEQUENCE setup. - Press the SEQ button again to exit the AUTO SEQUENCE mode.
HDD Free Space Mode The default is “PERCENT”. PERCENT: Remaining capacity of the fixed HDDs will be displayed on the screen in percent. GIGABYTE: Remaining capacity of the fixed HDDs will be displayed on the screen in gigabyte. Record Status ON: Displaying the recording status of each channel on the screen. The default is ON. Clock Display ON: The date and time will be displayed on the screen. The default is ON. Date&Time Mode Choose from “YY/MM/DD” or “MM/DD/YY” or ”DD/MM/YY”. The default is “YY/MM/DD”.
Select the character using the , , , buttons and then press the character table. button. Press the ESC button to exit 5.2.4 Covert ON: The images of the selected channel will be hid and displayed in black screen, but doesn’t affect the recording status. The default is OFF. SELECT: “LV&PB&NW”, “PB&NW”, “LV&NW”, “LV&PB”, “NETWORK”, “PLAY” and “LIVE”. LV(LIVE): To covert selected channels on live screen. PB(PLAY): To covert selected channels on playback screen.
SPOT SEQUENCE TIME The duration of spot sequence can be set from 1SEC to 60SEC. The default is 3SEC. VIDEO LOSS SKIP If you select “ON”, loss images will be skipped. The default is ON. 5.2.5.1 SPOT Mode Operation Manual Mode ① Press the “SPOT” button on the front panel to toggle “SPOT” mode indicated on the main monitor. ② Press a camera button to display that camera on the spot monitor. 5.2.
5.3.1 HDD REC HDD INITIALIZE: Select YES and press ENTER button to format the HDD. Note: All data will be cleared after initialized. Please be careful. 5.3.2 Clock System clock adjustment. DATE&TIME Manually adjust the Date and Time values.
TIME ADJUST ① If the INTERNET TIME ADJUST is “ON”, system time will be adjusted to the time offered by the internet server. ② If the INTERNET TIME ADJUST is “ON”, please set the IP address of SELECT TIME SERVER. ③ Set the correct TIME ZONE standardizing GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). ④ If the DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME is “ON”, please set the starting date and time and end date. 5.3.3 Video Standard Select from “AUTO”, “NTSC” or “PAL”. The default is “NTSC”.
5.3.7 Advanced Setup 5.3.7.1 Password Check Some operation can be protected by password check. Admin password has the highest manager authority of this DVR. Default user is Admin. Please note! If you forget admin password, there is no way to access this DVR again. If PASSWORD CHECK is ON, when user using following functions, system will request the password: Record, Search&Playback, Copy, Live Audio, DVR Menu Setup, DVR Status checking and PTZ control. 5.3.7.
USER2 is 33333333, USER3 is 44444444, USRE4 is 55555555. CAUTION: For security reason, please change the password after purchasing 5.3.7.3 User Authority You can give different user with independent authority by this setting. ON means user can use the specific function. 5.3.7.4 DVR Menu Setup 1. Menu Initialize If select YES, all menu setting will be restore to factory default. NOTE: After initialized, HDD data will not be deleted.
2. LOAD MENU FROM FILE To download the DVR menu settings from file which saved in the USB storage device. 3. SAVE MENU TO FILE Save the menu settings to the USB storage device. Note: To copy and upload the menu setting only from front USB port. 5.3.8 Firmware Upgrade You can update the DVR firmware through the USB interface. Insert the USB device with the all.dvi file into DVR and press YES to update the firmware.
Chapter 6 Record Operation and Menu Setup 6.1 Record Operation The DVR provide three methods of recording for your choice as following: 1. Manual Recording: You can just press the button on the front panel during any LIVE monitoring time. Press the RECORD button again to exit recording mode. 2. Schedule Recording: You can prearrange the schedule recording time (RECORD -> RECORD SETUP) by applying Front Panel Control or Mouse Control.
-“ (Green) ” : Schedule Recording mode -“ (Red) ” : Event Recording mode (Motion detection/ Video loss/ Sensor) -“ (White) ” : Not Recording These three recording mode all needs a corresponding RECORD SETTINGs such as IMAGE SIZE, RECORD FRAME… DVR will follow the menu setup to do the recording. 6.2 Quick Setup This menu is simply used when user want to change just a few important settings. QUICK SETUP If QUICK SETUP setting is “ON”, DVR will record data according to the QUICK SETUP settings.
EVENT Select a kind of EVENT of “ALL”, “ALARM”, “V-LOSS”, “MOTION”, “ALARM&LOSS”, “ALARM&MOTION”, “LOSS&MOTION”, “OFF”. The default is “ALL”. If you want to select all kind of event, choose “ALL” and if you don’t want event recording, choose “OFF”. PRE RECORD TIME When video loss, alarm or motion is detected, DVR will store pre-recorded data during the selected time. The pre-recording time can be set from 0 second to 5 second and the default is “5”.
6.3 Record Setup If QUICK SETUP setting is “OFF”, DVR will record data according to the RECORD SETUP settings. DVR provides 10 RECORD PROGRAMs, user can use RECORD SETUP menu to arrange the different RECORD PROGRAMs to different time point. For example, you can use higher recording frame to record on workday, and use lower recording frame on weekend. The default RECORD PROGRAM is PROGRAM6. RECORD STATUS: You can find the present RECORD PROGRAM setting in the DVR STATUS page.
② IMAGE SIZE: NTSC: 720x480/ 720x240/ 360x240 PAL: 720x576/ 720x288/ 360x288 ③ Set the RECORD FRAME for each camera: - NORMAL: Normal record frame. - EVENT: Event record frame. ④ QUALITY: Set the record quality of normal recording and event recording. There are three record qualities: Fine(F)/ Normal(N)/ Low(L). ⑤ PRE/POST: Set the time period of PRE RECORD TIME and POST RECORD TIME. PRE RECORD TIME is 0~5 sec, the default is 5 sec. POST RECORD TIME is 0~60 sec, the default is 10 sec.
6.4.2 Event Screen Mode SCREEN HOLD: Keeping the current screen even if the event occurs. EVENT FULL: Display the full screen of the channel which the event occurs. EVENT MULTI: Display the multi-screen when the event occurs. EVENT F_RTN: Display the full screen of the channel which the event occurs and return. EVENT M_RTN: Display the multi-screen when the event occurs and return. 6.4.3 Event Message ON: The warning message will be displayed when the event occurs. 6.4.
When QUICK SETUP is OFF: Please assign the event type in the RECORD PROGRAM menu and set the EVENT CHECK to ON. 6.5 Other Record Setup 6.5.1 Preview Quality After the DVR and cameras installed, DVR will calculate how long the installed HDDs can record automatically. When use this function, DVR can’t in any record mode. you can see the size of each image quality and how long you can record in the installed HDDs by the PREVIEW QUALITY.
6.5.2 Audio Record If the QUICK SETUP is OFF, when you want to record audio, the AUDIO RECORD in the RECORD SETUP must set to ON. 6.5.3 Repeat Record ON: When repeat recording, if the HDD is full, DVR will overwrite the recorded data automatically. OFF: Stop to record when the HDD is full. REPEAT RECORD ALARM: When the rest capacity of HDD matches the setting value, DVR will stop to write datas into HDD and show the warming message on the screen. The setting value is 5% ~ 10%. 6.5.
Chapter 7 Search Operation and Menu Setup SEARCH&PLAYBACK If you want to search the specific record data, you can enter the SEARCH menu through the main menu or press the SEARCH button on the front panel. Instant Playback Press the (DIRECT) button in the LIVE mode, DVR will switch to the PLAYBACK mode instantly and start to play from the button pressing time. Press the DIRECT button again will switch the playback direction. Press the LV/PB ( ) button in the PLAYBACK mode, DVR will switch back to LIVE mode.
7.2 Search&Copy You can search the record data from HDD and copy to specific storage device. HDD ID: The HDD (HDD0, HDD1) which the record data saved. The default is NORMAL. The START TIME and END TIME of the selected record data will be shown on the screen.。 CHANNEL: Select to playback signal channel or all channels. Select the desired HDD ID, CHANNEL, TIME, and press the ENTER button then you can playback. Press ESC button to go back to the previous menu.
7.4 Event Search Search the record data according to the event. For example, you can see how many MOTION events during the assigned time period. Select the desired HDD ID, CHANNEL, EVENT, TIME and press the ENTER button, the search relausts will be shown. Select the desired event and press ENTER to playback. NOTE: - When video loss is detected, up to five seconds of pre-recording data is stored on the HDD and the details will be listed in the EVENT LIST. The beep sounds will flicker.
7.6 File Search Search the record data according to the record file in the storage device. If user has more than two DVRs which are the same model (with the same file format), you can save the record data of one DVR to external storage device and play the data on the other DVRs. Select the desired storage device and press the ENTER button, the search relausts will be shown. Select the desired file and press ENTER to playback. 7.7 Bookmark Search Search the record data according to the BOOKMARK.
7.9 Search Button Information SLOW ( ) Press this button to make the speed level which is slower than normal speed (X1) and displayed it at the upper left side of screen as below; (If you press this button again, the playback speed will be changed in the order of the below seven speed level).
DIRECTION ( ) Press this button to change direction to forward ( ) or backward ( ) in playback mode. ① Press “PAUSH” button on the desired position you want to playback. ② Then press the “SEQ” button to set up the SECTION A position (Starting Position). ③ Press “PLAY” button to continue playback to find out the end position. ④ Press “PAUSH” button on the end position. ⑤ Press the “FREEZE” button to set up the SECTION B position (End Position).
Chapter 8 Copy Operation and Menu Setup To copy the DVR record data, you can enter the COPY menu through the main menu or press the COPY button on the front panel. 8.1 Copy Copy the record data from DVR internal HDD to external storage device. 8.1.1 Copy to USB Storage Device First, please connect the USB devices (DVD Writer, HDD, Card Reader) to DVR and enter the COPY munu: MEDIA: Select USB_FRONT HDD ID: The HDD (HDD0, HDD1) which the record data saved. The default is NORMAL (search data in all HDDs).
8.1.2 Copy to DVD± ±RW Put the DVD±RW into DVD-ROM and enter the COPY menu: Select the desired MEDIA (INTERNAL CD-RW/DVD), HDD ID, CHANNEL, COPY START TIME, COPY END TIME and press the ENTER button to start the copy. NOTE: - You can see a password input message. Please input the password by the numeric buttons or press ECT button to cancel. - You’ll need this password when opening the file in the network viewer. - When the copy is in process, the copying status (ex.
CONTINUE COPY: After change a new media, the COPY process will be continued. FORMAT MEDIA: Format the present storage device. 8.2 Copy Status Review the status of the present COPY process. COPY CUR TIME: Indicate current copying situation among the total copying data. 8.3 Format Media To make sure the correctness of COPY, we strong recommend you to format the storage media before use. NOTE: ALL DATA WILL BE REMOVED AFTER FORMAT.
Chapter 9 Network Setup and Operation 9.1 Network Setup • This DVR support dynamic IP and static IP. • Remote view from Internet Explorer or DVR Viewer software. DVR Viewer provide plenty functions include menu setup. IE support only simple viewing and playing. • This DVR doesn’t support xDSL, there is a DYNAMIC IP SERVER, but no PPPoE protocol. DHCP DHCP is a protocol for assigning dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network., if you want to use dynamic IP, please set the DHCP to “ON”.
NETWORK FRAME Select the desired value to select an image frame to be transported from DVR to network client viewer. Note: NETWORK FRAME is use for the transported image being influenced by Network speed. - STILL: Use when the local network speed is too slow. - MOTION: Use when the normal situation of network speed. 9.2 DVR-Viewer Installation 9.2.
If you don’t need to change the default path, press “Install” to start installation. Installation DVR-Viewer completed. Click on “YES” to install the Roxio UDF Reader. Click on “Next”. Click on “Install”. Click on “OK” and the installation completed.

Press button to switch to full screen mode. 9.4 DVR-Viewer Operation 9.4.1 DVR-Viewer Software Password When the DVR Viewer is run for the first time, it prompts for the administrator’s password. When you run the software in the future, you’ll need this password. If you don’t want to set a password, please keep it empty. Click on OK to start the program. 9.4.
Add ○ 1 You can click on the DVR Search button ( ) to auto scan the available DVRs in a local network area: Press “Search” button to scan the DVRs, select the desired DVR and press “Add to List”. The selected DVR will be added to the DVR List. ○ 2 Or input the DVR connection information directly, then click on “Add” to add a DVR. Type: DVR connection type, select “Network” generally. IP/Port/MAC: DVR IP address and connection port (The default is 5400).
○ 1 Select the desired HDD, Channel and Video Mode. ○ 2 Press “OK”, the following window appears: ○ 3 Select the desired Channel and Search Time under the Time Search window, click on “Play” to playback. 9.4.4 File Search Some users copy the DVR record data to DVD or USB storage device. Then use File Search function to search and playback these data on PC. Click on the File Search button, the following window appears: ○ 1 Select the desired search path through “Folder Select”.
9.4.5 Arrange Windows Arrange the windows opened by DVR-Viewer automatically. * 1 window * 2 ~ 4 windows *5 ~ 9 windows *10~16 windows Double click on one window in multi display mode to extend to full screen. 9.4.
Display: - Channel Title: Show the Channel Title on the screen. - Event: Show the event occured channel as Red on the screen. - Date Time: Show the DVR date and time on the screen. - Frame Rate: Show the Frame Rate on the screen. Play Mode: - Frame Mode: It will playback images in frame mode which is useful for recorded images in high frame rate. This may occurs when moving artifact with recorded images in low frame rate. - Field Mode: It playback images in field mode.
b. Multi Display Mode Click on “MULTI” button to display as Multi Display Mode. Click on “MULTI” again to return to Signal Display Mode. c. Auto Sequence Mode Click on “AUTO” button to display as Auto Sequence Mode, and you can also set the sequence time. 9.4.8 DVR Controller Press “Controller” button, a control panel similar to DVR front panel will appears. 9.4.9 PTZ Controller Use the PTZ Controller to control PTZ camera through internet.
buttons in Move line, then the PTZ camera will move to the preset position. 9.4.10 Setup Click on “SETUP” button and input the DVR ADMIN password, you can enter to the DVR muen setup. Save To File: Save the DVR menu settings to a file. Read From File: Read the DVR menu settings from a file. Load From DVR: Load the real time settings from DVR to PC. Update to DVR: Update the menu settings in PC to DVR. QUICK SETUP Please refer to 6.2 QUICK SETUP.
For the rest settings please refer to 5.1.2 SCREEN. RECORD To set the Schedule Record, please click on an hour block and then click “SCHEDULE RECORD ON/OFF”. An hour block when enabled becomes Green. Move the cursor to any time point on the vertical ALL roll, then click on “SCHEDULE RECORD ON/OFF” to cancel record schedule.

9.4.11 Status Click on “STATUS” button to review the System/Record/Network/Bit Rate status. 9.4.12 Print Click on the “PRINT” button to make a screen snapshot and save as a file. The size of snapshot is depend on the Record Image Size (D1、Half-D1、CIF).
9.4.13 Copy Copy the DVR images to PC. Select the desired HDD, Time and channel, click on “Copy” button to start copy. The Copying stutus will be shown as below. Click on “OK” button after the copy finished, the file will be saved in C:\Program Files\DVR \DVR-Viewer\Copy automatically. 9.4.14 Search Please refer to Chapter 7 Search Operation and Menu Setup. 9.4.
