VI. Excess or Abnormal Noise

Connecting rod is worn.
Replace connecting rod.
Crankshaft bearing is worn.
Replace crankshaft bearing.
Timing "off" or beating
sound is heard.
Cylinder has carbon buildup.
Clean carbon from the cylinder.
lmproper spark plug gap.
Adjust to proper value.
Engine is flooded with fuel.
Need valve sticks, Repair
needle valve or replace
carburetor.
Wrong fuel type.
Select a proper fuel within
requirements.
Engine is overheating.
Troubleshoot heat issue (See
Troubleshooting Section V).
Valve clearance is incorrect.
Adjust the valve clearance.
Flywheel is loose.
Tighten the flywheel
connection to the crankshaft.
