5.2 Inserting and replacing needle
Order
After switching to a different needle size, adjust the distance
between the hook and the needle ( Service manual).
Incorrectly setting the allowance for clearance between
needle and hook tip can result in the following defects:
After inserting a thinner needle:
• Missing stitches
• Thread damage
After inserting a thicker needle:
• Damage to the hook tip
• Damage to the needle
Risk of injury from needle and moving parts.
Turn off the sewing machine before replacing the
needle.
Do not touch the tip of the needle.
WARNING
Damage to the machine, needle breakage, or thread dam-
age is possible due to incorrect distance between the nee-
dle and hook tip.
Check the distance to the hook tip after inserting a new needle
with a different size. Reset distance if necessary.
Incorrectly setting the needle height can damage the
machine.
Checking needle height is absolutely necessary when chang-
ing the needle for another system.
