REFRIGERANT PIPING CONNECTIONS
REFRIGERANT PIPE LENGTH
The length of refrigerant piping will affect the performance and efficiency of the unit. Nominal
efficiency is tested with a pipe length of 25 feet (7.6 meters). A minimum pipe run of 10 feet (3 meters)
is required to minimize vibration and excessive noise.
Refer to the table below for specifications on the maximum length and drop height of refrigerant
piping.
Capacity (BTU/h) Maximum Length
Feet (Meters)
Maximum Drop Height
Feet (Meters)
< 15,000 82 Ft. (25 M) 33 Ft. (10 M)
≥15,000 and < 24,000 98.5 Ft. (30 M) 66 Ft. (20 M)
≥24,000 and <36,000 164 Ft. (50 M) 82 Ft. (25 M)
WARNING
When connecting refrigerant piping, do not let substances or moisture other than
specified refrigerant enter the unit or pipes. The presence of foreign materials will lower
the unit's capacity and can cause abnormally high pressure in the refrigeration system.
This can result in explosion and personal injury.
