Thegeneralprincipleforasubstancetobeincludedinthedatabaseasadeclarable
substanceis:1)existingnationallawsorregulationsinanIECmembercountrythatare
relevanttoElectro‐technicalproductsandthatprohibitorrestrictsubstances,orthathave
alabeling,communication,reportingornotificationrequirement,and2)applyingIEC
62474criteriaresultsinidentificationofdeclarablesubstance.
2.1Scope:AppliestopreparationofSDSsforhazardouschemicalsusedunder
occupationalconditions.Doesnotaddresshowthestandardmaybeappliedtoarticles.It
presentsbasicinformationonhowtodevelopandwriteaSDS.Additionalinformationis
providedtohelpcomplywithstateandfederalenvironmentalandsafetylawsand
regulations.ElementsofthestandardmaybeacceptableforInternationaluse.
