5.2.5 Check of the Storage Medium Header
For the identification of a storage medium, a so-called storage
medium header is defined. From this header information is read in
order to see if it contains valid data for this machine class.
The following parameters are checked when the card is inserted:

Format-ID Fixed identification for a
formatted storage medium.

Card type Current application area of the storage
medium e.g. machine program /
machine data / languages
·
Card designation Description of the data available on
the storage medium
(fixed for specific machine class)
e.g. “550-16-26 Data”
If one of these parameters is recognized as invalid, then the following
warning or note window appears on the screen:
War ning:
The inserted storage medium has an invalid format or is an
unformatted new storage medium.

Type: PROGRAM Machine program
DATA Machine data
LANGUAGE Language
