Crop Residue Management
PAGE 11
Chaff Spreader
The chaff spreader can be used in
conjunction with a straw spreader or straw
chopper. It provides a widespread of residue
from the cleaning shoe and improves field
conditions for tillage, planting and chemical
applications, by dispersing the residue mat.
Straw Spreader
Our two-speed twin disc straw spreader
provides an efficient, economical method of
managing crop residue. A unique offset disc
design minimizes interference between the
two spread patterns of the twin discs for
maximum spreading width. The two-speed
drive system allows you to speed up or slow
down to match crop residue volume.
Direct-Discharge System
If baling straw is essential to your operation,
the Advanced Technology Rotor requires no
discharge beaters, conveyer belts or other
straw-damaging mechanisms to move the
straw away from the rotor discharge area.
No extra belts means
less maintenance on our
direct-discharge system.
And more free time
for you.
Chopper, spreader or
direct discharge. Residue
management the right way.
When it’s harvest time, you’ve got your hands
full. Literally. Which is why we’ve designed our
9005 Series combines to make every facet of the
process as flexible and efficient as possible – right
down to residue management.
Regardless of the crops you produce, we offer
you a choice of methods to not only manage this
aspect of your harvest, but to maximize it.
Straw Chopper – High-yielding crops demand
a high capacity straw chopper, with widespread
capability. That’s what you get with Massey
Ferguson straw choppers. Hardened and
sharpened knives and impeller blades aggressively
chop the residue. A deep-finned spreader board is
easily adjusted to provide the material spread
pattern you need to promote rapid decomposition.
The straw chopper is mounted to the combine on a
rail system that allows it to be moved forward to the
chop position or backward to the direct discharge
position. The operator simply uses the header-
latching wrench to rotate the sprocket drive.
