Periodic Maintenance Procedures
Be sure the O-ring [A] is in place, and tighten the filler cap
[B].
Apply grease to the O-ring.
Torque - Rear Final Gear Case Oil Filler Cap: 29 N·m (3.0
kgf·m, 22 ft·lb)
Universal Joint Lubrication
Remove:
Rear Propeller Shaft (see Rear Propeller Shaft Removal
in the Final Drive chapter)
Force grease into the grease nipples [A] until the grease
comes out from the nipple, and wipe off any excess
grease.
[B] Grease Gun
Brakes
Front Brake Pad Wear Inspection
Check the lining thickness [A] of the pads in each caliper.
If the lining thickness of either pad is less than the service
limit [B], replace both pads in the caliper as a set.
Pad Lining Thickness
Standard: 4 mm (0.16 in.)
Service Limit: 1 mm (0.04 in.)
Front Brake Hoses and Connections Inspection
Inspect the brake hose and fittings for deterioration,
cracks and signs of leakage.
The high pressure inside the brake line can cause fluid to
leak [A] or the hose to burst if the line is not properly main-
tained. Bend and twist the rubber hose while examining
it.
Replace the hose if any cracks [B] or bulges [C] are no-
ticed.
Tighten any loose fittings.
