Notes about tanning
ê UV-units may not be used by persons who are
subject to sunburns (skin type I), persons who have
a tendency to sunburn easily, children under 16
years, as well as persons who had skin cancer or
have a predisposition for skin cancer.
ê Note the equipment specific recommendations for
tanning time and radiation intervals.
ê Do not use the equipment when the time control is
defective or the filter glass is broken.
ê Ultraviolet radiation from the sun or UV-units can
cause skin or eye damage.
The biological effects are dependent on the type
and amount of radiation and also on individual skin
sensitivity.
ê The skin can show signs of sunburn after excessive
tanning. Ultraviolet radiation with sunlight or UV-
equipment can lead to premature aging of the skin
and also to an increased risk of skin tumors.
ê Unprotected eyes can become inflamed on the
surface and in certain cases the retina can be
damaged through excessive tanning. After many
repeated tanning sessions cataracts can develop.
ê Special caution should be taken by individuals
against ultraviolet radiation and also when certain
medications and cosmetics are used.
Worthwhile facts about tanning
ê The radiation of the units has an optimum
composition:the special lamps have a highly
concentrated share of the mild UV-A tanning rays.
By this sunburns are avoided, at the same time the
tanning takes effect in the shortest possible time.
ê Besides the cosmetic effects an appropriate tanning
can increase the physical well-being.
For this reason a positive effect can be achieved
with various skin ailments.
ê However, always consult a physician with any type
of disorder.
ê The tanning equipment's best tanning capabilities
can only be realized for persons who are able to
suntan normally.
ê The radiation of the tanning equipment is not effective
for persons who do not tan in natural sunlight.
For this reason the following precautionary measures
must be followed:
þ always wear protective eyewear
þ
Remove cosmetics before tanning and do not use
any suntan lotion
þ Do not tan when you have taken medications which
increase skin sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation. If in
doubt consult your physician.
þ Always take a day long break between two
tanningsessions. Do not sunbathe on the same day.
þ Please note the recommendation for the tanning
time, tanning intervals and tanning distance to the
lamps.
þ Consult a physician if persistent swelling, raw
patches or pigmented liver spots appear on the skin.
Tanning distance
ê
The tanning distance is not specified.
ê
The following tanning times are based on a position
in the center of the elliptical tanning booth.
ê
A decreased distance to the radiation source
increases the radiation intensity.
After tanning
It is advisable to use a skin lotion after tanning.
