Grasp seat back with the other hand and push down evenly and firmly until it locks into place. Pull up on seat back to make sure it is locked. Set headrest aside. 1 Pull seat pad over both cup holders.

Headrest to Seat Back Assembly 7 Align headrest to seat back.

Place harness over sides of child restraint. 5 Place the child’s bottom and back flat against the child restraint.This will increase comfort and allow the harness to properly tighten.

If the top harness slots are below the child’s shoulders, the child weighs at least 40 lbs. (18.1 kg) and is over 1 year old, convert the seat to a belt-positioning booster. Determine which set of harness slots works best for your child. Adjust if needed.

To change buckle location: 13 From bottom of seat, locate buckle’s metal clip. 14 Insert metal clip up through the shell and pad. 15 From the front, pull buckle free from shell and pad. WARNING Failure to reattach the harness correctly, can result in serious injury or death. 12 Determine which of the three available buckle slots is both comfortable and snug.

Make sure buckle faces out. 16 From the bottom of seat, pull buckle's metal clip completely through pad and shell. 17 Check Headrest Height 19 The top of the child’s head should never be above the top of the child restraint’s headrest. Adjust headrest if needed.

Position harness straps over the child’s shoulders. 1 ! WARNING Failure to use the headrest when using the internal harness system can result in serious injury or death. 2 3 Push each buckle plate into buckle until you hear a “click”.
4358-3832A US Prospect 2/23/06 10:18 AM Page 29 Position the harness retainer at mid-chest (even with arm pits), away from the child’s neck. 5 Removing Your Child from the Child Restraint 1 Press on release button and pull apart. 2 Press red button on buckle to release the buckle plates. Place harness over sides of child restraint. 3 Loosen harness by pushing down on the harness release lever while pulling out on the harness. Remove child.

In most cases you will use the lap/shoulder belt combination. There are some vehicle belts that will not work with a child restraint or will require special attention. See next page for specific instructions. The LATCH System Anchor bars LATCH means Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren.

Not all vehicle belts will work with this child restraint. You must determine if your vehicles belts are compatible with this child restraint. If you will use the LATCH system, refer to the LATCH section. Belts in center of the door or side panel (A) or middle of the vehicle seat cushion (B).
4358-3832A US Prospect 2/23/06 Page 35 Manual Belts 1 2 10:18 AM Manual lap belts are common in the center rear seat and can allow the child restraint to loosen when it is tilted or jarred. After tightening the lap belt securely, tilt and push the child restraint forward and to both sides. If no loosening occurs, your child restraint should be secure.

Remove the locking clip when the vehicle seat belt is not being used with the child restraint. A locking clip will not fix all types of seat belt problems. Before you put your child restraint in the vehicle, buckle the lap/shoulder belt. Pull on the lap belt portion.

Thread the vehicle lap belt or lap/shoulder belt combination through the belt path and out other side. Buckle. 2 Place one knee in the child restraint and push down firmly while pulling up on belt to tighten. For a manual belt, refer to “Knowing your Vehicle Belt” section.

If the LATCH belts do not loosen, your child restraint should be secure. NOTE: Some “play” from front to back or about an inch from side to side is acceptable. If the child restraint does not remain tight, do not use the child restraint in this seating location with this LATCH system.

To Adjust Top Anchorage Strap: Pull loose end to tighten To tighten; pull on free end of top anchorage strap. Most vehicles made after 9/1/99 already have the anchor hardware for a top anchorage strap. Refer to your owner’s manual or call your dealer.

Harness must be removed for use as a Belt-Positioning Booster. Belt-Positioning Booster 1 From the back of the restraint, remove harness from splitter plate. 2 Pull harness adjustment strap as far out as possible. 3 Pull harness through the harness slots from the front. 40-100 lbs (18.1-45.

Keep harness system for future use.

The shoulder belt should cross the base of the child's neck and across the chest (not the face or neck).

Make sure back of backrest is at the back of seat base. 3 Push out on the other armrest to slide in backrest’s locking tab into the slot in the armrest. 60 Rotate backrest backwards. 4 Reinstall Backrest Follow the steps in the “Preparing Child Restraint” section for complete backrest and headrest assembly.

Insert metal clip of the buckle down through the pad and shell. 1 From under seat, pull metal clip down through slot in bottom of seat.

Start by sliding pad off of backrest’s locking tab. 4 Slide pad off of top of backrest. 5 Remove pad from seat base. Start by unhooking the elastic on back of seat base. Remove harness as described in the “Belt-Positioning Booster” section. Remove headrest and backrest as described in the “Remove Backrest for Backless Belt-Positioning Booster Use” section.

Attach the elastic straps from middle of pad to back of seat base. Backrest Pad: Starting from the top, slide on narrow end of pad.
