Measure the distance from the center of the 
circular pool or hot tub. This is your radius.
The ancient formula for calculating the area of 
circles is: AREA = πr²
So, Square Footage = 3.14 x (radius x radius)
Now subtract this square footage from your 
project estimate.

Simply measure the width and length of your pool 
as shown in the diagram
Multiply the length and width to get an estimate
Subtract this estimated square footage from your 
total project area.

When you have an irregularly shaped pool or hot 
tub, it will be easier to just imagine the curved 
shape as a rectangle. 
Measure the longest width and length from inside 
your pool.
Multiply these length and width measurements for 
an estimated square footage.
Subtract this estimated square footage from your 
total project area.
