➤ Measure the spark plug electrode gap with a wire-type feeler gauge.
If necessary correct the gap by carefully bending the side electrode.
✓ Spark plug type:
A5RTC (TORCH), gap: 0.024 – 0.028 in (0.60 – 0.70 mm).
➤ Check the spark plug sealing washer (fig. w 2) and change spark plug if neces-
sary.
➤ Use a spark plug wrench (fig. v 4, page 38) to install the spark plug
(fig. v 3, page 38).

➤ Reinstall the spark plug cap (fig. v 2, page 38).
➤ Reinstall the spark plug maintenance cover (fig. v 1, page 38).

NOTE
• If installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2 turn after the spark plug
seats to compress the washer.
• If reinstalling a used spark plug, tighten 1/8 – 1/4 turn after the spark
plug seats to compress the washer.
• Over tightening the spark plug can damage the threads in the cylin-
der head.
