Clean the sponge (fig. u 4) in a solution of household detergent and warm
water, then rinse thoroughly, or wash in non-flammable or high flash point sol-
vent.
Let the sponge (fig. u 4) dry thoroughly.
Reinstall the sponge (fig. u 4) and air filter cover (fig. u 3), and tighten the
cover screw.
Reinstall the maintenance cover (fig. t 1, page 37).
9.4 Spark plug service

Disassemble the screw (fig. v 5) and remove the spark plug maintenance cover
(fig. v 5).
Remove the spark plug cap (fig. v 2).
Use a spark plug wrench (fig. v 4) to remove the spark plug (fig. v 3).
Inspect the spark plug (fig. v 3) and replace it if the electrodes are worn, the
insulator is cracked, chipped or fouled.
NOTE
To ensure proper engine operation, the spark plug must be properly
gapped and free of deposits.
An incorrect spark plug can cause engine damage.
WARNING! RISK OF BURNS
If the generator has been running, the engine will be very hot.
Allow the engine to cool down before servicing the spark plug.
