1. UsetheChannelSelectcontroltochooseachannelorchannelstomeasure.The
choicesare:Left,Right,Stereo,Center,and All.
2. Playtheaudioclip.
TheDP570beginsmeasuringthelevel
oftheaudioclip.Thesoftwaredisplayofthe
measuredlevelvarieswidelyatfirst,butthemeasurementisanaveragelevelover
timesothedisplaystabilizesastheclipcontinues.
3. ThedefaultmeasurementmodeisInfinite.ClicktheInfiniteorShortTermbuttonto
movebackandforthbetween
themodes.
Thesoftwaredisplaystheleveloftheaudioclip. Thislevelisdisplayeduntilyoustart
anewmeasurementorchangemodes.
4. Repeatthesestepswitheachaudioclipselected.TheDP570shouldreturnsimilar
valuesforeachoftheclips.Ifthevariationbetweentheclipsis4
dBorless,selecta
valueforthedialoguelevelparameterwithinthatrangethatbestindicatesthe
averageleveloftheprogramcontent.Atanytime,tousethemeasurementlevel
displayedonthe software,clickAccept,andthedialoguelevelparameterissetatthat
level.Toset
thedialoguelevelparametermanually,clickanddragtheDialogueLevel
Setslidertothesettingyouwant.
4.8 Setting Dynamic Range Control
Youcanchoosedynamicrangecontrol(DRC)profilesforRFandLinemodes.Usethe
emulatortomonitortheeffectsofeachprofilesettingontheprogramcontentandselectthe
profilethatbestsuitsthematerialineachmode.BothRF andLinemodescanbesettoany
of
thefollowingprofiles:None,FilmStandard,FilmLight,MusicStandard,MusicLight,
Note: Themeasurementfunctionusedinthefollowingproceduresisdesignedto
measuredialogueonly.Programswithoutdialogue,suchasanall‐musicprogram,
stillrequireacarefulsettingofthedialoguelevelparameter.Whensettingthe
parameterforsuchcontent,itisusefultocomparetheprogramtothelevel
ofother
programs.Thegoalistoallowtheconsumertoswitchtoyourprogramwithout
havingtoadjustthevolumecontrol.
Note: Iftheinputaudiolevelregistersbelow–31dBFS,theAcceptbuttonisdisabled,as
thosevaluesarenotvalidsett ingsforthedialoguelevelparameter.Below
–40 dBFS,thefront‐paneldisplayreadsLOW.Ineithercase,itisbesttoraisethe
sourceaudiolevelandremeasuretheselectedaudioclip.
Tip: IftheDP570measuresmorethana4dBdifferenceintheaudioclips,reconsiderthe
clipsyouhavechosen,recallingthattheseclipsshouldrepresentnormalspeechlevel
inyourcontent.
