4.3.3 Using External Metadata
Whenusingexternalmetadata,makecertainthatthevaluesarecorrectfortheprogram.
Particularlywhenyouuseexternalprogramconfigurations,itisimportanttoensurethat
thenumberofprogramsandthenumberofchannelsineachprogramarecorrectlyset.
MonitoringwiththeDP570shouldalertyoutoany
problems.

SignalandmetadataflowfromthisexampleareshowninFigure 42 .
Wellassumeyoureceivea5.1channelprogramencodedinDolbyE,andyouwantto
createastereocompatiblemixforitandreencodebothontoanotherDolbyEmaster.Inthis
casethemetadataforthesecond
programdoesnotyetexist,butyouwanttoretainthe
metadatafromthefirstprogram.Furthermore,theprogramconfiguration fromthe
originalstreammust bechangedbecauseitindicatesasingle5.1programinsteadofthe
5.1+2configurationyouarecreating.
Afteryoucreatethestereomix,youreencode
the5.1channelprogramalongwiththe
stereoprogramusingaDP571.
Tomonitorthereencodedprogram:
1. ClicktheIntradiobuttontoselectaninternalprogramconfigurationsource,and
choose5.1+2fromthedropdownlistinFigure 22.
2. SelecteitherexternalmetadatasourceforProgram1.
3. ClickProgramSelectbutton
2 inthesoftware.
4. ClickInttoselectaninternalprogrammetadatasource,andselecttheparametersfor
thesecondprogrammetadata.
