Therearetwofunctionalclassificationsofmetadata:
Professional—TheseparametersarecarriedonlyintheDolbyEbitstream.Theyareused
toautomaticallyconfigureadownstreamDolbyDigitalencoder,allowingmaximum
controlbythecontentproduceroverhowtheencodedbitstreamistreatedateachstepon
thewayto
theconsumersdecoder.
ConsumerTheseparametersarecarriedinboththeDolbyEandtheDolbyDigital
bitstream.TheconsumersDolbyDigitaldecoderusestheseparameterstocreatethebest
possibleaudioprogrampossibleoneachconsumersplaybacksystem.Consumer
parametersincludetheDRCvalues,whichareultimatelyenabledbythe
endusers
selection,asdiscussedinSection D.3.
