DP600.Thesectionsthatfollowshow
youhowtodiagnoseandrepairharddrivesandpowersupplies.
3.1 Maintaining the DP600 Hard Drives
TheDP600hasfivephysicalinternalharddrives.Drives1and2arearrangedinaRAID1
configurationtoprovideprotectionfortheoperatingsystemaswellaslocalstorage.The
remainingthreeharddrivesareconfiguredassepara te drivestoprovidelocalstorage.This
configurationofoneRAIDpair
andthreeseparatedrivesrepresentsfourlogicaldrives.
TherearefourbicolorLEDsonthefrontpanel,labeled
1,2,3,and4.TheseLEDsindicate
thestatusoftheDP600’sfourlogicalinternalharddrives.ThedriveLEDsfunctionas
follows:
•Off(nonilluminated):Indicatesafunctionaldrivewithnocurrentdisk accessactivity
•Green:Indicatesnormaldriveactivity
•Red:Indicatesadrivefailure
LED
1 showsthestatusofthe two‐driveRAID1configuration.Theoperatingsystemis
installedonthesemirroreddrivestopreventaphysicaldrivefailure,resultinginan
inoperablesystem.Ifeitherofthemirroreddrivesfails,theotherRAIDdriveenablesthe
systemtooperatenormallyuntilthefaileddrive
isreplaced.
LEDs
2,3,and4indicatethestatusoftheotherthreephysicaldisks.Thesedisksare
configuredasseparatedrivesanddonothaveRAIDbackupcapability.Ifanyofthese
drivesfail,thefaileddrivesmustbereplaced,andany workordersinprogressduringthe
failuremustberestarted.
Ifoneofthe
driveLEDsturnsred,refertoTable 3‐1todeterminewhichphysicaldrive
failed.Typically ,theDP600automaticallyrebuildstheRAIDarraywhenoneoftheRAID
driveshasaproblemorisreplaced(withthepoweron).DuringtheRAIDrebuildprocess,
LED1blinksinredinhalf‐
secondintervals.Whentherebuildprocessiscomplete,LED1
stopsblinking.
Insomeinstan ces(forexample,ifyoureplaceanon‐RAIDdrive),youmustinitiatethe
rebuildprocessmanually,asdescribedinSection 3.1.2.
IfyoureplacebothRAIDdrives,youalsoneedtoreinstalltheDP600software.In
sucha
case,followtheinstructionsforacleaninstallationinSection 3.3.Whenyoureinstallthe
software,thesystemautomaticallysynchronizesthetwoRAIDdrives,re‐creatingthe
originalmirroredRAIDarray(manualrebuildnotrequired).
