Updating software
This function establishes a network connection and checks whether the FOMA terminal software
needs to be updated. If update is required, this function downloads a part of software by packet
communication and then upda
tes the software. When software update is required, the information
can be viewed on the
NTT DOCOMO websites or in "
お 客 様 サ ポ ー ト
" (User support) (in Japanese
only) of iMenu. Software may be updated in the followi
ng three methods : "Auto-update", "Now
update" and "Reserved update".
* It is possible to perf
orm software updates while keeping your Phonebook entries, camera
images, downloaded data and other data sav
ed on the FOMA terminal intact. However, note
that in some cases data cannot be protect
ed depending on the condition of your FOMA terminal
(malfunction, damage, water e
xposure, etc.). It is recommended that you back up necessary data.
Please note that it may not be possible to back up some da
ta such as downloaded data.

Note
・
Never remove the battery pack while updating software. Doing so may cause the update to fail.

Charge the battery fully before updating software.
・
Software updates (downloading and rewriting) may take time.
・
While software is being updated, functions such as making calls, receiving calls or
communication functions, and other functions are not available (While downloading, voice calls
can be answered).

It is recommended that you perform software updates when the FOMA terminal is stationary and
in a location with good signal quality (three bars for the antenna icon). If the reception becomes
poor a
nd then the download is interrup
ted, try to update again in a location with good signal
quality.

When software is updated, the unique information (model, serial number, etc.) of your FOMA
terminal is automatically transmitted to the server at DOCOMO. We do not use the transmitted
information for any pur
poses other than Software Update.

If the update fails, the message "Rewrite failed" will appear and all operations will become
unavailable. In this case, please seek advice at a repair counter specified by DOCOMO.
Running software update by selecting the icon
Select the icon (Update icon) on the standby screen to update software.

Your FOMA terminal is checked if it needs an update.
