Operating instructions 1 General Dear Customer, We congratulate and thank you for purchasing a DITTING quality product. These operating instructions have been prepared to simplify your use of the espresso coffee grinder. They contain information, advice and instructions for the best use of your unit. 1.
Operating instructions 1.2 Transfer declaration To ensure transfer of the operating instructions to final consumers Note: The following declaration should be completed by the dealer and the purchaser. The purchaser undertakes to return this declaration to the dealer. The purchaser thereby certifies that the dealer has drawn his attention to the contents of operating instructions no. 64428, in particular to the relevant safety instructions for use of the machine.
Operating instructions 1.3 Safety instructions The operating instructions must be kept permanently at the place of operation of the machine and if possible attached at the point of installation in the immediate vicinity of the machine. The competent sales and service personnel must have read the operating instructions before putting the coffee grinder into operation and be familiar with all functions including action in the event of a fault.
Operating instructions 1.4 Information- and safety symbols Two information symbols are used in these operating instructions to emphasise important comments in the text: Information This symbol indicates information containing important data concerning efficient use. Nonobservance can lead to faults. Safety This symbol indicates information which if not observed can lead to danger to persons and/or substantial material damage. The safety instructions must be followed without fail. 1.
Operating instructions 3 Description 3.1 Main components and operating elements The main components and operating elements are shown in the figure. On rear: 1. Operating instructions 5 Set-up and basic adjustment A grinding test run is carried out on each grinder in the manufacturer's factory. This is why you may find ground material residue in the grinding mechanism!! 5.1 Usage / location Place the grinder on a level, vibration-free surface. Never operate the grinder in moist, or even worse, in wet surroundings! 5.2 Installation You have received your grinder in operating condition. Now you only need to connect it to the mains.
Operating instructions 6 Operation Only use the KE 640 espresso grinder for roasted coffee beans. Observe the safety instructions under 1.2 Never exceed the maximum permissible continuous operating period of running time 6 sec. on and 60 sec. off. Afterwards, allow the motor to cool off for approx. 30-40 minutes before switching the grinder on again. 6.1 Handling the grinder Proper operation necessitates the steps described in the following: 6.1.1 Actuate the mains switch on the rear of the device.
Operating instructions 6.1.5 Slide the filter support between the filter support mounting and the filter support rest until it comes to a stop. Push the filter support rest up and tighten the fastening screws. The setting is correct when the filter support independently remains in the mounting. 6.1.6 Check whether the factory grinding time settings for single shots S 2.0 and double shots D 4.0 appear in the display.
Operating instructions 7 Operating faults Fault Cause The grinder The spout is hums but does clogged. not grind. Grinding is set too fine. Remedy Set grinding fineness to "coarse" and trigger the grinding process. The grinder will then grind itself free. Afterwards, return the setting to the desired grinding fineness. Turn the grinding fineness setting to the right, to "coarse", and trigger the grinding process. The grinder will then grind itself free.
Operating instructions 8 Cleaning Always pull the mains plug from the socket before carrying out maintenance or cleaning work on the device! Observe the safety instructions under 1.3! Do not let any foreign objects fall into the grinding mechanism! 8.1 Cleaning the coffee bean container Open the lid. Wipe the coffee bean container on the inside and outside using just a damp cloth. Do not rinse. For cleaning, use only cleaning agents approved for food product applications.
Operating instructions 8.4.3 Pull the grinding fineness adjustment lid off upwards (see Figure 3). 8.4.4 Do not adjust the stationary disc flange (top flange)! 8.4.5 On assembly, ensure that the grinding fineness adjustment is positioned so that the three drive pins engage in the grinding disc carrier teeth. The grinding fineness adjustment guide screw must be positioned above the recess in the intermediate ring. Figure 3 8.4.
Operating instructions 9 Removal and installation of the integrated grinder Always pull the mains plug from the socket before carrying out maintenance or cleaning work on the device! Observe the safety instructions under 1.3 Do not let any foreign objects fall into the grinding mechanism 9.1.1 Disconnect the mains plug. Close and remove the bean container. Place the grinder on its side and unscrew the fastening screws. Store the screws and washers in a safe place.
Operating instructions 10 Maintenance and repair Always pull the mains plug from the socket before carrying out maintenance or cleaning work on the device. Check the device regularly for any signs of damage, particularly to the power supply cable, plug, finger protector, etc. Any repairs that may be required are only allowed to be carried out by authorised experts. Please contact an authorised customer service centre or your local dealer. 10.1 Grinding disc replacement 10.1.
Operating instructions 10.1.14 Disconnect the mains plug from the socket. 10.1.15 Tighten the adjusting screws and remove the adjusting handle from the filler shaft. 10.1.16 Insert the sealing ring again. If the sealing ring is damaged, it must be replaced. 10.1.17 Replace the bean container and allow it to engage in the bayonet. Insert the lock screw (item 2). Open the hopper slide. 10.1.18 Insert the mains plug into the socket and switch the grinder on using the mains switch. 10.1.
