Pilot Bore
• Endload beacon housing: provides more
torsional stiffness and more uniform beacon
signal strength regardless of roll position
compared to sideload housing.
• Pocket bit (1) or slant-faced head with
grade Tuff bit (2): both cut a hole slightly
larger than the diameter of the beacon housing
for a straighter bore path. The pocket bit is
useful in stiffer soils and the grade Tuff bit is
useful for steering in soft soil conditions.
• Grade adaptor (tailpiece): holds rear end of
beacon housing centered in the bore hole to
give truer pitch readings.
