Recommended Lubricants/Service Key
Proper lubrication and maintenance protects Ditch Witch equipment from damage and failure. Service
intervals listed are for minimum requirements. In extreme conditions, service machine more frequently.
Use only genuine Ditch Witch parts, filters, approved lubricants, TJC, and approved coolants to maintain
warranty. Fill to capacities listed in “Specifications” on page 121.

Item Description
DEO Diesel engine oil meeting or exceeding API CF, CF-4, CG-4 or CI-4. If using high-sulfur
fuel API CF is recommended; see engine operation manual for more information.
Refer to the engine oil temperature chart on page 77 for recommended viscosity grade.
DEAC Diesel engine antifreeze/coolant meeting ASTM D5345 (prediluted) or D4985
(concentrate)
HTG High temperature, NLGI #2 premium grade, petroleum-based grease with high
temperature resistance and good mechanical stability
NDO 30W non-detergent oil
SGL Synthetic gear oil (ISO 100), Ditch Witch p/n 256-044 See blower manual for more
information.
THF Tractor hydraulic fluid, similar to Phillips 66 HG, Mobilfluid 423, Chevron Tractor
Hydraulic Fluid, Texaco TDH Oil, or equivalent
MPG Multipurpose grease. Use polyurea based NLGI GC-LB Grade1.5 or litium based NLGI
GC-LB Grade 2.
DOT DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid
Check level of fluid or lubricant Check condition
Filter Change, replace, adjust, service or
