Using the System
Scan for Device Codes
If the code for your device is not listed in the tables starting on page 120, use
this procedure to sc an the remote control’s memory for the device code.
1. Turn the device on. Use the devices front panel buttons
or its remote control.
2. Press and hold the mode
button until all the other m ode
buttons light up, and the n let
go of the button.
The mode button flashes.
For example, hold the TV mode
button for a TV until all of the other
mode buttons light. Whe n you let
go, the TV mode light will flash.
3. For AUX mode only.Press0
forasecondTV,or1fora
second VCR, or 2 for a tune r,
amplifier, or c able box. Then
press the STAR (*) button.
This step is for program ming which
kind of device that should be
programm ed in AUX mode. I f
you’re not programming in AUX
mode,skiptostep4.
4. Press the blank POWER
button.
This puts your remote in the scan
mode.
5. Press the UP or DOWN
ARROW button repeatedly
until the de vice turns off.
As you press the UP or DOW N
ARROW button, the remote is
trying each code in the m emory to
see if it can turn off your devic e.
When the device turns off, you have
found a code tha t might work.
Note: The mode button for the
device will flash rapidly eight tim es
when you’ve scanne d all the c odes
for that device.
6. Press the Pound (#) button. This stores the c ode you f ound.
7. Turn the device back on and
try some other buttons to
make sure they work.
Press the blank POWER button to
turn the de vice ba ck on. Try some
other buttons to make sure they
work. Someti mes, the blank
POWER button works when other
buttons don’t.
8. Repeat this procedure until
you’ve tried all the codes.
You may need to repeat the scan to
find the be st code for your device.
Tip: The
receiver
deletes one-
time event
timers right
after they work.
You must
delete all other
types of tim ers
your self.
