Warning: Tighten a ll the coaxial cable connections only by hand.
Using a wrench may over-tighten the c onnections, causing damage.
Such damage is not c overed by the Lim ited warranty.
2. Connect a coaxial cable from the TV S
ET OUT c onnection on your
receiver to your television's RF tuner input. Check to see that the
Channel 3/4 switc h on the new receiver's back panel is set to the same
channel (3 or 4) as your TV.
3. Plug in the receiver's power cord. Make sure both the receiver and TV
are turned on.
4. You should see the P oint Dish/S ignal menu in the new rece iver. If
you do not, ope n the Main Menu, by pressing Menu followed by
6-1-1 on the remote.
5. Select Check Switch or Test. An Attention screen will open. Select
Check to run C heck Switch.
6. When Check Switch is complete, you will see an Installation Sum-
mary screen. If the screen shows the correct switch and the message
"Satellite reception verified" for all satellites in your system, go to
step 7. If the Installation Summa ry scr een does not detec t all of
the satellites your system should be receiving, c heck and retighten (by
hand) the cable connections between your r eceiver, LNBFs and
switches in your system. Then pre ss Retest or Test to r erun Check
Switch ag ain.
7. Select OK or Cancel to r eturn to the Point Dish/Signal screen.
Then select Cancel to exit the Point Dish/Signal screen.
8. An At tention screen will open. This screen asks if the mounting and
positioning of your dish is comple te with a "Locked" indication in the
Point Dish/Signal screen. Since your system is already installed
and your dish is pointed for the str ongest possible signal strength, you
can select Yes.
9. The receiver will begin taking a sof tware upgr ade. You will see the
message shown be low.
A pr ogress bar at the bottom of the screen will show how the software
upgrade is pr ogressing. Once the software upgrade is complete, you
will see a second message that the rece iver's memory is now being
programmed.
This message may disappear, your sc reen may go blank for a few
minutes, and the green light may continue to blink. This is normal and
does not indicate a problem with t he receiver.
10. When the software upgrade is complete , press View and you should
now be able to w atch TV programming. To activate your progra m-
ming on this newly installed receiver, call 1-800-333-DISH (3474).
