4.1 Checking/replacing filter cartridges
1. Put the appliance into the neutral position by raising the handle until it
is about at right-angles to the base of the appliance (Fig. 21).
2. Release the water tank (Fig. 9) and take it out of its holder.
3. Firmly pull the filter cartridge out of its holder (Fig. 29).
4. Check the filter medium inside the cartridge (Fig. 30):
- Filter medium is between white and yellow: the cartridge is OK.
- Filter medium is a brown colour: the cartridge has to be replaced.
Replace the cartridge with a new one (ordering information ZChapter
4.4, ‘Spare parts and accessories’).
5. Put the filter cartridge back in (Fig. 29).
4.2 Checking/cleaning the brush roller
1. If you have just worked with steam, take off the pad with the micro-fibre
cloth and allow the appliance to cool down.
2. Unlock the base of the appliance and lay the appliance on its side so
that the underside of the base points up.
3. Unlock the brush roller as shown (Fig. 31).
4. First take the lock and then the brush roller out of its guide (Fig. 32).
5. Remove stuck-on hair, fluff and the like. If required, carefully use scis-
sors or tweezers.
6. Put the brush roller and the lock back in and lock it.
4.3 Caring for the micro-fibre cloth
- Wash normally at 60 degrees.
- Do not bleach.
- Do not put in a dryer.
- Do not iron.
- Do not clean chemically.
4.4 Spare parts and accessories

4.5 If the appliance is defective
Never use a defective appliance or operate an appliance with a defective
power cord. If the power cord of this appliance is damaged, it must be re-
placed by the manufacturers, their authorised service representative or a
similarly qualified person to avoid danger.
Refer a defective appliance to an authorised dealer or the Royal
Appliance
Service (ZPage 46, ‘International Service’) for repair.
WARNING:
Danger of injury! Before cleaning or performing maintenance on the appliance, ensure that the plug has been removed from the socket.

WARNING:
Danger of scalding! The appliance continues to run. Even after you
have pulled the mains plug from the socket, hot steam will continue to
be available.
CAUTION:
As soon as it has cooled off, remove the micro-fibre cloth from the base
of the appliance. Otherwise, germs and mould might develop.
CAUTION:
It is best to wash the micro-fibre cloth after each cleaning session. Com-
ply with the following care information in doing so:
