DW6000 VSAT Install Console
I hesitate to put this information in a User Guide but I have seen to many references to
this function on to many bulletin boards to not at least cover the topic if for no other
reason to issue a stiff warning about going there.
The VSAT console is a non-browser interface to the configuration of the DW6000. You
reach it by using telnet:
telnet 192.168.0.1 1953
Later in this guide there is a chart that lists the open ports that the DW6000 host has
open. Port 1953 is the open port for this purpose.
Now that I have told you about it I must sternly ask that you not go there. In the field we
use this access to tell the DW6000 to Reset (rr command) or to reset to factory defaults
(rf command). The rf command is how we clean the clock of a troubled DW6000. Once
done we have to completely re-register the DW6000 from the beginning just as if it came
from the box new.
If you go there get ready to dispatch a technician to fix your system.
Generally all installation tasks and tests are available through the web interface. There is
one test that is useful, the ODU voltage test. This test will report the voltage being
delivered to the outdoor transmitter. From the VSAT console choose option āiā for
installation. Respond to the questions for installer ID and OPI signal simply enter a null
return. Next select option āeā for ODU Connectivity Test. The ODU voltage should be
between 60-70. If not then one of three problems could be present: 1) power supply
should be replaced, 2) ground block could be shorted out, 3) cable could be broken.
