Regulation of the mixer (M21) is
undertaken by the heat pump
manager. If required, it calls for
the boiler and adds more do-
mestic hot water until the de-
sired set return temperature is
reached. From a return temper-
ature of 65 °C, the mixer closes,
thus protecting the heat pump
from excessively high return
temperatures.
The boiler is requested via the
2nd heat generator
output of the heat pump man-
ager. The operating mode
of the second heat generator
can be coded as "variable" if no
domestic hot water preparation
is activated.(see Chapt. 8.11.1
on page 110).

The boiler can also be re-
quested for DHW preparation to
achieve higher domestic hot
water temperatures. From a re-
turn temperature of 65 °C, the
mixer M21 closes, thus protect-
ing the heat pump from exces-
sively high return temperatures.
If an additional flange heater is
installed in the domestic hot
water cylinder the boiler is only
used for reheating and thermal
disinfection when the flange
heater is active in heating opera-
tion.
