7. MEDIA MANAGEMENT

7.4 IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING USE

OF EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES AND USB STICKS.

The STB is equipped with a USB 2.0 interface to connect any external storage devices

e.g. an external hard drive or USB ﬂash drive for data transfer. This interface has a stand-

ard power output of 500mA. Please connect only external hard drive with a separate

power supply! The STB can’t provide the possible higher inrush current for the external

hard drive without separate power supply.

If you would like to transfer or record data (ﬁlm/image/music and so on) please watch out

for reading rate and printing rate of the USB stick. It should have values of 15 to 20MB/s.

With these values you don’t have Interference like jerking records.

Please note to the details of the respective manufacturers for memory capacity. Here the

standard values:

With a 2 GB USB stick you can record around 35 hour’s music or around 500 songs or

2400 pictures, with 3 megapixel or 1 hour ﬁlm with MPEG-2 format and 1 hour 30 min

ﬁlm with MPEG-4 format.

Please note that these standard values are depends on the storing data size. Broadcasted

TV programs can much diﬀer from the data volume. This depends on the quality of broad-

cast of the several TV channels.
