4–18 Installing an SF200 Storage Array with a VAX 6000 Series System

3. Install the terminator or terminators (part number 12–31281–01)

to their correct position on the SF72 enclosures, magazine tape

subsystems, and system I/O panel.

Note that the positions are numbered on the cabinet frame side rails

on the front and the rear of the cabinet.

• If the array has an SF72 storage enclosure in position 1 and a

magazine tape subsystem in positions 5 and 6, then install a

terminator (12–31281–01) in the bottom DSSI connector of the

magazine tape subsystem in position 6.

• If the array has two magazine tape subsystems in positions 5 and

6, then install a terminator (12–31281–01) in the bottom DSSI

connector of both magazine tape subsystems.

• If the array has an SF72 storage enclosure in position 1 only, then

install a terminator (12–31281–01) in the leftmost DSSI connector

of position 1 and the unused DSSI connector on the system I/O

panel.

• If the array has an SF72 storage enclosure in position 1 and 2,

then install a terminator (12–31281–01) in the leftmost DSSI

connectors of position 1 and 2.

• If the array has an SF72 storage enclosure in position 1, 2, 3, 4,

and 7, then install a terminator (12–31281–01) in the leftmost

DSSI connectors of positions 4 and 7, and the unused DSSI

connector on the system I/O panel.

• If the array has an SF72 storage enclosure in position 1, 2, 3, 4,

7, and 8, then install a terminator (12–31281–01) in the leftmost

DSSI connectors of position 4 and 7.

All other conﬁgurations, with or without magazine tape subsystems,

do not need terminators.
