2.3.3 Grounding Precautions
(a) Dedicated Ground: Optimal
• Designate the ground from the FG terminal
on the rear face of the PS-B as a dedicated
ground as illustrated in figure (a).
(b) Shared Ground: Acceptable
• If a dedicated ground cannot be provided,
use a shared ground as illustrated in figure
(b).
• Be sure to use grounding wire of 2 mm
2
or
thicker. The grounding point should be as
close to the PS-B as possible to make the
grounding wires as short as possible. When
the grounding wire should be long, use
thick, insulated wires and lay the wires
through conduits.
• FG and SG are connected inside the PS-B
main unit. When connecting with other
device, designate the system configuration
so that it won't form a SG short-circuit loop.

• Ground the lightning surge absorber (E1) and the PS-B (E2) sepa-
rately
• Select a lightning surge absorber that will not exceed the maximum
allowable circuit voltage, even when the power supply voltage rises
to the maximum.
(c) Shared Ground: Not acceptable
