5-3 Ethernet cable connection
Ethernet cable connection
The Colorwriter supports the following types of Ethernet cables:
Thinnet (thin coaxial Ethernet cable or 10Base2)
Uses an optional external transceiver (media attachment unit, or MAU), such as
the DECXM-AA, to attach to the AUI (attachment unit interface) connector
on the Ethernet interface of the Colorwriter.
Thicknet (thick coaxial Ethernet cable or 10Base5)
Cable connects directly to the AUI connector on the Ethernet interface of the
Colorwriter.
Twisted pair (unshielded twisted pair cable or 10BaseT)
Uses 8-pin RJ-45 connectors that plug into the RJ-45 socket on the
Colorwriter.
