Parking Ticket Case Study

Parking management has always been a major concern in big cities, particularly in popular areas and business districts where parking lots
are often full throughout the day. In addition to limited availability, city parking has always been quite pricy. Due to these reasons, many
citizens stick to curb parking because of its convenience and availability.
Once a parking ticket is issued and placed on a car’s windshield, the ticketing ofcer saves a copy for recording purposes. At the end of a
day, the ticketing ofcer submits these copies to be entered into the database. This process is done manually with someone reading the
handwritten copies and entering each piece of data one by one. Not only is this extremely labor intensive, but the system is also vulnerable to
errors especially in cases where handwritings are difcult to read. On busy days, large volumes of tickets may take 2 to 3 days to be entered
into the database, which delays the payment process.
Due to these limitations of the manual ticketing system, a local government in decided that it was time to automate its ticket issuing system.
With a sunlight readable screen and ergonomic design, the MODAT-100 offers an all-in-one solution for ticketing ofcers on the road. The
ticketing ofcer uses a stylus to select items from a drop-down menu and enter information conveniently through a keyboard on the screen.
Once related information has been entered, the ticket is generated automatically by the 2thermal printer integrated in the MODAT-100. At
the same time, this information is sent to the back ofce database through 3G wireless.
Sunlight readable screen is extremely suitable for outdoor applications.
Resistive touch screen with stylus allow information to be entered electronically.
