There is a lot to be said for keeping digital signage installaons as simple as possible - reducing installaon costs and
cung the cost and complexity of the IT infrastructure and maintenance. In many cases it may also not be necessary
or nancially viable to build a remotely updateable network. A large proporon of digital signage applicaons have
pre-loaded content that doesn’t change very oen. In these situaons, the client will nd many advantages to updat-
ing the content manually. Digital View has implemented thousands of non-connected signage projects and has devel-
oped a strong suite of soware and accessories to support all aspects of stand-alone digital signage
Manual update is suitable for sites where:
→ Content does not need to be updated frequently
→ Costs / feasibility of implemenng a network outweigh benets
→ Company reps regularly aend remote sites - ‘Sneaker Net’
Manual update oers signicant client benets:
→ Non-networked hardware is less expensive
→ Less IT infrastructure required = cheaper & more reliable
→ Simple installaon – no telecoms or network experse required
→ No on-going soware costs
Manual Update Methods:
→ USB Update : the ViewStream™ & VideoFlyers™ can be updated by inserng a pre-loaded USB memory sck
into the player. They will automacally read the USB sck and update any new content and re-start.
→ Flash Card : the media players run on solid state compact ash memory. This memory is accessible from the
side of the product and can be removed and manually exchanged.
Note: The USB and Flash Memory Card ports are secured to prevent tampering
