9.0 Testing Your System
InformyourMonitoringStationwhenyoubeginandendsystemtesting.
Householdfirealarmsystemsshallbetestedbyaqualifiedservicetechnicianatleastevery3years
inaccordancewithNFPA72.Itistheuser’sresponsibilitytotestthesystemweekly(excluding
smokedetectors).Ensureyoufollowallthestepsidentifiedinthefollowingsections.
Shouldthesystemfailtofunctionproperly,callyourinstallerimmediatelyforservice.
9.1 System Test
Thesystemtestactivatesa4-secondcheckofthesystemstatusindicators,keypadlights,buzzer,
andsiren.Itisapartition-basedtestmustbedonewhenthesystemisdisarmed.
Tostartasystemtest,dothefollowingsteps:

l Allsystemstatusindicatorlightsflashfor4seconds.
l Asystemtesttransmitstothecentralmonitoringstation
l Thesystemchecksthebackupbatterylevel.
l Thekeypadlightsilluminatefor4seconds.
l Thesystembuzzersoundsfor4seconds,orthepartitionbuzzerandsirensoundfor2
secondseachinseries.
