16.3 Direct iCOM Connection to J21
Use DMP Model 397 cable with a DB-9 female connector on one end and an RJ connector on the other end. Mount
theiCOMinthepanelenclosure.RefertotheiCOMInstallationGuide(LT-0587).Plugthe397cableDB-9male
connector end onto the XR500 Series panel J21 RS-232 connector. Plug the RJ connector into the iCOM J1 Network
connector. Program the XR500 Series panel as needed.
16.4 Serial Connector LEDs
The two LEDs, located near the bottom-right corner of J21 indicate data transmission and receipt. The top LED
ashesgreentoindicatethepanelistransmittingserialdata.ThebottomLEDashesyellowtoindicatethepanel
is receiving serial data.
J1 Ethernet Connector (XR500N/XR500E only)
17.1 Description
The J1 Ethernet Connector is available on the XR500N/XR500E Network version to connect directly to an Ethernet
network using a standard patch cable.
17.2 Ethernet LEDs
The two LEDs, located to the left of J1 Ethernet Connector, indicate network
operation.Thetop,LinkLEDashesgreentoindicatethenetworktrafcisgood.
Thebottom,ActivityLEDashesyellowtoindicatemessagesarebeingsentand
received.
J3 Telephone RJ Connector
18.1 FCC Registration
TheModelXR500SeriescomplieswithPart68oftheFCCrulesandtherequirementsadoptedbytheACTA.Onthe
outsideoftheenclosureofthisequipmentisalabelthatcontains,amongotherinformation,aproductidentierin
the format US:CCKAL00BXR500. If requested this number must be provided to the telephone company.
A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone network must comply with the
applicableFCCPart68rulesandrequirementsadoptedbytheACTA.Seeinstallationinstructionsfordetails.
The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a
telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming
call.Inmostbutnotallareas,thesumofRENsshouldnotexceedve(5.0).Tobecertainofthenumberofdevices
that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact the local telephone company.
If the XR500 Series causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will notify you in advance that
temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if advance notice isn’t practical, the telephone company
willnotifythecustomerassoonaspossible.Also,youwillbeadvisedofyourrighttoleacomplaintwiththeFCC
if you believe it is necessary.
The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or procedures that could affect
the operation of the equipment. If this happens the telephone company will provide advance notice in order for you
tomakenecessarymodicationstomaintainuninterruptedservice.
If trouble is experienced with the Model XR500 Series, for repair or warranty information, please contact DMP at
the address and telephone number listed on the back of this document. If the equipment is causing harm to the
telephone network, the telephone company may request that you disconnect the equipment until the problem is
resolved.
If your premises has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the installation
of the XR500 Series does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm
equipment,consultyourtelephonecompanyoraqualiedinstaller.
Caution: To ensure proper operation, this equipment must be installed according to the installation instructions in
this manual. To verify that the equipment is operating properly and can successfully report an alarm, this equipment
must be tested immediately after installation, and periodically thereafter, according to the test instructions in this
documentandtheXR500SeriesProgrammingGuide(LT-0679).Additionally,vericationofLineSeizecapability
should be made immediately after installation, and periodically thereafter, in order to ensure that this equipment
can initiate a call even when other equipment (telephone, answering system, computer modem, etc.) connected to
the same line is in use.
