B.2.1 FDDI Network Building Blocks
As shown in Figure B–2, FDDI networks are constructed using the following two
types of devices:
• Stations — there are two types of stations: Dual Attachment Stations (DAS) and
Single Attachment Stations (SAS).
• Concentrators — there are two types of concentrators: Dual Attachment Concen-
trators (DAC) and Single Attachment Concentrators (SAC).
