13.3. Disconnecting Picture Porter 35 From Your Computer
To properly disconnect Picture Porter 35 from the computer,
disable the device before unplugging it.
The method to disable the device will vary based on the operating
system of your computer. Refer to the instruction manual of your
computer for details on how to do this.
Disabling devices in Windows OS
:
1. Make sure that there are no programs or open windows
accessing any of the three Picture Porter 35 drive locations.
2. Locate the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ icon in the icon tray at
the lower-right corner of your computer screen. You can move
the mouse pointer over the icons until you see the ‘Safely
Remove Hardware’ label.
3. Double-click on this icon to open the ‘Safely Remove
Hardware’ window.
4. Select the hardware device named ‘USB Mass Storage Device’
by double-clicking the left mouse button.
5. Confirm that the drive letters for the selected ‘USB Mass
Storage Device’ match with the drive letters assigned by your
computer for the Picture Porter 35 and click ‘Ok’.
If the drive letters for the selected ‘USB Mass Storage Deice’
does not match, click ‘Cancel’ and select a different ‘USB Mass
Storage Device’.
6. After your computer displays a pop-up saying, ‘Safe to Remove
Hardware’, you can safely remove the device. Close the ‘Safely
Remove Hardware’ window by clicking ‘Close’ and disconnect
the USB cable between Picture Porter 35 and the computer.
Note
: In some cases, if the Picture Porter 35 hard drive is
sleeping when you attempt to disconnect it, your computer may
indicate that it cannot disconnect the Picture Porter 35. If this
happens, repeat the same process again.
