In the case of Windows XP:
1. Locate the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ icon in the icon tray at the lower
right-hand corner of your computer screen next to the system clock. You
can move the mouse pointer over the icons until you see the ‘Safely
Remove Hardware’ label.
2. Double-click on this icon to open the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ window.
3. Select the hardware device named USB Mass Storage Device.
4. Click on the Stop button and a confirmation window will appear.
5. Click OK at the confirmation window to confirm the action.
6. Close the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ window by clicking on the Close
button.
7. Now it is safe to unplug the device from the computer.
Warning
: Unplugging the device while data is being transmitted may crash your
computer and cause you to lose valuable data.
