Preface
This
manual
summarizes technical information about MicroVAX 3400
and
VAXserver 3400 systems.
The
manual
is organized
as
follows:
Chapter
1 describes
the
base system specifications, including
the
CPU
module
and
associated memory options.
Chapter
2 describes specifications for optional components available for
MicroVAX
3400
and
VAXserver 3400 systems.
Chapter
3 contains information on expanding your system.
NOTE:
VAXserver 3400 systems are designed
to
offer
maximum
performance
for applications
that
do not require timesharing. Some
of
the devices
and
components listed
in
this
manual
are designed for multiuser systems
and
may
not
be
suitable for VAXserver systems. Contact your DIGITAL
representative
if
you have
any
questions about whether use
of
a specific
device is appropriate for your VAXserver system.

The
following conventions
are
used
in
this
book:
Convention
Bold
Meaning
A symbol denoting a
terminal
key
used
in
text
and
examples
in
this
book.
For
example, I Break I
indicates
that
you
press
the
Break
key
on
your
terminal
keypad. I Return I indicates
that
you press
the
Return
key
on
your
terminal
keypad.
A symbol
indicating
that
you hold down
the
Ctrl
key
while
you
press
the
Ckey.
Bold type is
used
to
indicate
user
input.
For
example:
