Bar Code Printing on the LA600 MultiPrinter
20.7 Characteristics of the Supported Bar Code Styles
20.7.7 Industrial 2 of 5
The bar code style Industrial 2 of 5 allows for large tolerances, ranging
from plus or minus 15% to 20%. Specifically, the style has the following
characteristics:
• Start and Stop characters are:
: / ;
• A check digit, thought not required, can be calculated by the application if
needed based on modulo 10 weighted by 3.
• The recommended ratio of wide to narrow elements is 2.5, though the ratio
can range from 2.0 to 3.0.
• Minimum quiet zone width is 10 times the width of the narrow element.
20.7.8 Interleaved 2 of 5
The bar code style Interleaved 2 of 5 has the following characteristics:
• Start and Stop characters are:
: / ;
20.7.9 MSI mod 10/10
For this bar code style, a modulo 10-based check digit is required, and it must
be programmed by the application. Figure 20–8 illustrates the calculation of a
check digit for a number encoded in MSI mod 10/10.
20.7.10 POSTNET
The POSTNET bar code style has the following characteristics:
• The check digit is calculated automatically and embedded at the end of the
bar code symbol.
• The HRC line is not printed.
• All bars and spaces have the same width.
