Bar Code Printing on the LA600 MultiPrinter
20.7 Characteristics of the Supported Bar Code Styles
20.7.2 Code 93
As shown in Figure 20–2, the Code 93 bar code style provides the means to
encode the entire ASCII character set. This system supports all 128 ASCII
characters by using prefixes for the 26 letters of the alphabet. These prefixes
include seven characters:
-
.
$
/
+
%
SP
and four Extended Code 93 symbols:
($)
(/)
(%)
(+)
Extended Code 93 prints like Code 93. Extended Code 93 decodes and prints
the control characters as their combined printable codes.
The following characteristics also apply to Code 93:
Two symbol check characters, ‘‘C’ and ‘‘K’’, are required and must be
programmed in the application. Figure 20–3 and Figure 20–4 together
illustrate how to encode the required check characters for Code 93.
Minimum symbol height is 15% of symbol length—at least 0.25 inches.
Minimum quiet zone width is 10 times the width of the narrow element.
Figure 20–3 and Figure 20–4 together illustrate how to encode the required
check characters for Code 93.
