5.3.4 Ribbon or Carriage-Related Problems
Ribbon Problems.
1. Make sure the ribbon is:
a. Tensioned correctly.
b. Not worn thin or dry.
c. Not torn damaged in any other way.
d. Not jammed.
e. The correct type as recommended by Digital.
2. Replace the Mechanical Assembly.
3. Replace the Main Board.
Carriage does not move smoothly.
1. Examine the paper pathway. Remove any obstructions.
2. Examine the printhead carriage bar (the bar on which the printhead moves). Is it
dirty? If so, clean with a soft cloth.
3. Examine the carriage area for obstructions. Remove as necessary.
4. Replace the Mechanical Assembly.
5. Replace the Main Board.
