Boot-up Failure
Problem Troubleshooting Procedure
You turn on the notebook
computer and the
following conditions
apply:
The notebook
computer’s power
is on.
There is no screen
display
System in Suspend Mode. Press
the Suspend/Resume button.
System hung possibly hung after
using a screen saver. Press the
Reset button located on the back
on the unit (Figure 1-3)
.
Check the DRAM connections to be
sure that they are secure.
Check the LCD connections.
Check the system board power
circuit.
Post Failure
Problem Troubleshooting Procedure
You turn on the
computer and the
following happens:
There is power to
the system.
The HDD seems
to be spinning.
The screen is
operational, and
error codes and
messages are
displayed.
A POST failure usually indicates a
keyboard, memory, or HDD
failure.
Check the error code or message
against the error codes and
messages in this chapter.
