8.1.3 Drive SBB Status LEDs
Figure 8-2 shows a typical 3.5-inch disk drive SBB. The SBB has two LED indi-
cators that display the status of the device. The status conditions of the LEDs are
listed in Table 8-3. The LEDs have three states: on, off, and flashing.
• The left LED (green) is the device activity LED and is on or flashing when
the drive is active.
• The right LED (amber) is the drive fault LED and indicates an error condi-
tion when it is on (except when you turn the system on, at that time brief
flashing is normal).

Table 8-3 shows the activity and fault status for the SBB LEDs and indicates
what the status means.
