5.2 Loop Test
The protocol messages for multiaccess channels are the Ethernet
standard, and are described in Appendix
E. They are also described in
the Ethernet Specification, Version 2.0, Section
8 (Ethernet
Configuration Testing Protocol).
The messages specified here are directly compatible with MOP version
2.1.
The
only change is the specification of a receipt number field
which, from the standpoint
of a system looping a messaqe back,
is just
part of the data.
