3.2.3.4 Read-identity
Funct ion:
Reads the identity of the specified system.
Inputs:
Channel-id

the unique identification of the channel on which to
read the identity.
Destination-address
-
the identification of the destination
system. Applicable only to multiaccess channels.
Outputs:
Receipt-number
-
the receipt
number used in the Console-abort or
Read-identity-poll functions to identify
this request.
Function:
Polls for completion of a Read-identity function.
Inputs:
Receipt-number

the request identification assigned to this
request by the Read-identity function.
Outputs:
Return-code

the status of the request. One of:
Not complete

the operation is still in process.
Success

identity read.
Transmit failed
-
the local transmitter could not transmit the
request.
Unrecognized channel

there is no channel with the specified
identification.
Channel in wrong state
