If You Are Using the Parallel Port
Most computers use the first parallel port (labeled LPT1 on your PC) to
communicate with the printer. If your printer is connected to LPT1, it is
recommended that you specify the retry parameter in the MODE command.
The ‘‘retry’’ parameter tells the printer what action to take if a time-out error
occurs. The examples in Table 2–1 causes the computer to send a ‘‘busy’’
message if the port is busy during a status check.
