2.2.3 Configuring Your DOS Files
This section explains changes you might need to make to your MS–DOS
AUTOEXEC.BAT file to communicate with the printer. If you are not familiar
with changing text in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, see your MS–DOS Users
Guide and Reference for information about text editors and the MODE
command.
If you are replacing another printer with the DEClaser 5100 printer, your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file may already be correct if you are using the same printer
port.
Some applications update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file automatically. Automatic
updates do not always change the communications port settings, so it is
a good idea to check your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to be sure all the settings
have been updated. Other applications may allow you to modify your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file from within the application so editing from the DOS
prompt is not necessary.
