Serial Port
Use the serial port if your printer is more than 3 meters (10 feet) from your
PC or if a printer (or other device) is already connected to the parallel port
on your PC. The DEClaser 5100 printer supports EIA-232 and EIA-422 serial
communications. EIA-422 is recommended if your system supports it and you
require high speeds and long distances.
NOTE
The default printer settings for serial communication are:
• Baud rate: 9600
• Parity: none
• Flow control: XON/XOFF (2-way)
• Stop bits: 1
• Mode: EIA-232
You must change the default setting from FLOW=XON/XOFF (2-way)
to FLOW=DTR/DSR for use with PCs. Refer to the Communications
sub-menu in Appendix A of your User’s Guide for additional
information about communication settings for your printer.
