Advanced Locating
When you're ready to be the expert
Here are some techniques that will help you drill more productively and get past the bore
that had everyone else scratching their heads and calling the home office.
Tracking “On-the-Fly”
Go watch some TV
You can find a training video on Tracking On-the-Fly at www.youtube.com/dcikent.
If you are running at 0% (0°) pitch under level ground, the predicted depth will be the actual depth. In this
case, all locating can be done at the FLP while the drill head is moving.
Once the transmitter has been located and it is moving in the correct direction, place
the receiver relatively level on the ground one rod length in front of the FLP, in line
with the path created by the FLP and RLP. Turn HAG off.
